People study yoga with me because they want something serious. They want to learn about the subtleties of their body and they are hungry for deeper self-knowledge. My students don’t want to be pushed to pain, they want to be encouraged to explore different levels of release and softening. I specialize in teaching all levels of students and understand the nuances of each level of interaction with the practice. Not all people will be comfortable with this level of self-exploration and thinking during their yoga practice. But those who appreciate that level of intellectual and emotional exploration will be deeply satisfied with the Embodyoga style and my unique approach to teaching yoga.

Private Yoga Lessons
A private yoga lesson is no longer just a luxury for the rich and famous. Like going to the doctor or getting a massage, it is a very practical strategy for normal people with aches and pains.
Whether you are too uncomfortable to attend group classes, need extra help improving flexibility in one area or are nervous about coming to classes with an injury, a private lesson is the perfect solution. Come sit down and talk with Courtney about your specific issue, and learn easy yoga postures to strengthen, tone and relax that troubled area. Even one or two sessions could make an enormous difference in your day to day workouts and overall lifestyle.
9:00 – 10:25am Intermediate/Advanced Yoga
10:00 – 11:15am Friday Yoga
All classes held at Hampshire Regional YMCA, 286 Prospect St., Northampton, MA. $10 for non-members and free for HRYMCA members.
Intermediate/Advanced Yoga: Requiring significant yoga experience and body awareness training, Intermediate/Advanced Yoga is designed primarily for strengthening purposes. This 85-minute class explores different types of intensity: both aerobic through vinyasa and Power yoga flows and anaerobic through holding postures for longer durations. Inversions, backbends and arm balances will juxtapose a further examination of alignment and specific muscle use in basic postures. Breathing techniques and meditation practices will be incorporated into each session. This class includes significant, in-depth exploration of purpose of postures and how to utilize different types of support in each basic pose. This class is designed to keep the practice of yoga invigorating and challenging after years of experience.
Friday Yoga: Friday Yoga is an end of the week class designed to soothe a tired body and refresh all the body systems. This class deepens a yoga practice by adding the mental/emotional element, allowing your practice to create more ease and softness in your life. This is beginner friendly, but more advanced students will appreciate the deeper levels of exploration.
